Tues 31 March:

BALLYCROMPANE (nr Clashmore): 4 CATTLE EGRETS.

ARDMORE:  7+ Red-throated Divers & 5 Sandwich Terns.

DUNGARVAN:  12-15 House Martins (first of spring) at Dungarvan Golf Course, Knocknagranagh; Green Sandpiper at Brickey canal.

 

Mon 30 March:

DUNGARVAN:  3 BLACK-NECKED GREBES off Ballynacourty, 8 Swallows & 2 Sand Martins at Brickey canal.

Nr DUNGARVAN:  Barn Owl (1030 pm).

CROHAUN:  Long-eared Owl.

 

Sun 29 March:

BALLYQUIN BEACH:  16 Shelduck.

DUNMORE EAST:  4 Purple Sandpipers outside seawall.

 

Sat 28 March:

BLACKWATER CALLOWS:  2 CATTLE EGRETS, Chiffchaff, Swallow (first of spring) & up to 10 Sand Martins at Ballyneroon East, nr Ballyduff.

BALLYCROMPANE (nr Clashmore): 4 CATTLE EGRETS.

DUNGARVAN:  Green Sandpiper at Brickey River.

BALLYSHUNNOCK RESERVOIR:  Whooper/Mute Swan hybrid, male Shoveler, female Pintail, male & female Gadwall, & Chiffchaff.

 

Fri 27 March:
WHITING BAY: Red-throated Diver & female Long-tailed Duck.

Thurs 26 March:
TRAMORE TOWN: A Waxwing feeding on apples in garden, Springmount.
BALLYMACART: 3 Black Redstarts.

Mon 23 March:
LISMORE: Lots of Sand Martins.
CROHAUN HILL: Long-eared Owl, 2 Woodcock roding & Ravens nesting.

 

Sun 22 March:

WHITING BAY: HOOPOE still present.


Sat 21 March:
BALLYCROMPANE (nr Clashmore): 4 CATTLE EGRETS.
FERRY POINT: 4 Wheatears.
WHITING BAY: HOOPOE still present, in fields behind east car-park (Ballinamona end); 2 Sand Martins.
Nr WHITING BAY: Female Black Redstarts at Monatray East & at Springfield Upper.
ARDMORE: Male Wheatear on beach; Red Admiral (first of year) & Small Tortoiseshell butterflies.
GLENCORRIN (nr Ardmore): Another female Black Redstart.
BALLYMACART: 3 Black Redstarts, a White Wagtail, 2-3 singing Chiffchaffs & a pipistrelle bat species.
HELVICK HEAD: 2 Black Redstarts & a male Blackcap.
DUNGARVAN: Green Sandpiper at Brickey canal, 2 Sand Martins at Ballyneety.
BALLINARD: 2 Mediterranean Gulls (adult & 1st-winter) & 4 Sandwich Terns.

Thurs 19 March:
WHITING BAY: HOOPOE at east car-park.
DUNGARVAN: Buzzard & 12 singing Chiffchaffs (first obvious spring arrival) along Brickey canal.
WATERFORD CITY: Long-eared Owl found dead on Cork Road outside Waterford Industrial Estate, presumed a road-casualty (during fog).

Weds 18 March:
WATERFORD CITY: 2 Blackcaps singing at WIT campus.

Tues 17 March:
Nr WHITING BAY: Merlin at Ballysallagh.
BALLYMACART: 2 Buzzards & 2 Sand Martins.

Mon 16 March:
Nr CLASHMORE: Buzzard.
DUNGARVAN: Male Wheatear at Barnawee bridge.
BALLINARD: Sandwich Tern (first of spring), adult Mediterranean Gull & adult Iceland Gull.
DUNMORE EAST: Purple Sandpipers.

Sat 14 March:
DUNMORE EAST: 10 Purple Sandpipers at pier.
BELLE LAKE: 20+ Sand Martins (first of spring).
RATHMOYLAN COVE: Male Wheatear (first of spring).
CASTLETOWN FEN: Adult male Merlin.
Nr TRAMORE BACKSTRAND: CATTLE EGRET at Quillia.
TRAMORE BOATING LAKE: Adult Ring-billed Gull.
ANNESTOWN: Chiffchaff & Small Tortoiseshell butterfly.
BALLYSHUNNOCK RESERVOIR: Male Shoveler & 5 Sand Martins.
DERRIGAL (nr Coolfin): 4 Whooper Swans & 19 Greylag Geese.
BALLINARD: 4 Common Seals (including 2 pups) on rocks offshore.

Fri 13 March:
CAPPOQUIN: Buzzard.

Thurs 12 March:
DUNGARVAN: First Willow Warbler of the spring.

TRAMORE TOWN:  First Dark Sword-grass moth of the year.

Weds 11 March:
DUNGARVAN: Long-eared Owl at Kilmurray.

Tues 10 March:
RAM HEAD:  3 Great Northern Divers, 1st- or 2nd-winter Glaucous Gull, 20 Common Dolphins and a Fin Whale.

Sun 8 March:

TRAMORE BACKSTRAND:  Green Sandpiper at Clohernagh.


Sat 7 March:
Nr CLASHMORE: 4 CATTLE EGRETS with 8 Little Egrets at Ballycrompane.

Weds 4 March:
Nr LEMYBRIEN: Merlin.

Tues 3 March:
DUNGARVAN: Male Goosander flew up Colligan River.

Sun 1 March:
Nr CLONMEL: Single Buzzards seen at two locations SW of Clonmel, but in Co Waterford.
